According to the website of Ministry of Health, the mortality of children under 5-year-old was 15.6‰, the infant mortality dropped to 12.1‰ and the maternal mortality constantly dropped to 26.1 per 100 thousand in China last year. The urban-rural gap and regional gap have being further narrowed. The incidence of interference sensitive major birth defect has also declined sharply, reported by Chinanews.com on Aug. 8th.
August 2-3, 2012 National Technical Training Conference of Maternal and Child Health Information Collection Work was held in Yinchuan, Ningxia. Department of Maternal and Child Health and Community Health affiliated to the Ministry of Health, the organizer of the conference, reported the data about nationwide maternal and child health of 2011, arranged the following key work on maternal and child health information collection and gave corresponding training sessions.
The conference called for high attention to the work of collecting information of maternal and child health in every region of China, and required related institution in each region to increase quality of initial data, enhance quality control of the data reported, in order to practically improve information accuracy and timeliness, meanwhile, reinforce sequential feedback of data and exchange of the information, guide the staff in different regions to analyze and use the data reasonably, regulate the information management as well as promote the maternal and child health work.
The organizer also reported the nationwide maternal and child health information in 2011 in the conference. In 2011, the mortality of children under 5 year-old was 15.6‰, the infant mortality dropped to 12.1‰ and the maternal mortality constantly dropped to 26.1 per 100 thousand in China. The health management of children under 7-year-old, screening rate of newborn diseases, systematic management rate of pregnant women and hospitalized childbirth rate were all steadily raised.
